Jennifer Heil Profile

Originally an avid swimmer, Jenn switched to freestyle mogul skiing when it was evident she would not attain the height required in swimming to compete at the international level. Dedicated to her passion of competing for Canada at the Olympics, Jenn committed herself to skiing, training diligently to attain national team status.

Jenn took part in her first Winter Olympics at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games where, as the youngest member of the Canadian Olympic Team, she finished 4th. Jennifer decided to take a year away from skiing in 2003 to attend McGill University while building a plan for success. The rest is history with Jennifer having won four successive Overall World Cup titles while also delivering repeat gold medal performances at the 2005 and 2007 World Championships.

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy, Jenn won Canada’s first gold medal. She was named the CanWest Media Canadian Female Athlete of the Year in 2007. Jenn took the 2008 season off to complete her second full year of business studies and returned to competition this past winter finishing 2nd overall in the World Cup standings. Her race results included Gold at the Olympic test event at Cypress Mountain.

When not studying commerce at the Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University in Montreal, Jenn actively embraces community affairs with a vibrant spirit. Her contributions in this area include;

  • Plan International, one of the world's largest international child-centered development organizations where Jenn is a supporter of programs that promote the advancement of girls in under developed countries.
  • Public speaking to students across Canada using her “Dare to Dream” theme. Dare to Dream emphasizes the importance of dreaming big while never giving in to perceived limitations. Jenn views her own experience as proof, positive as to what can happen when one pursues their dream.
  • Mentoring a new generation of female athletes hosting an annual “girls only” mogul ski camp with up-and-coming mogul skiers.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the David Suzuki Foundation’s Play it Cool program.

Jenn is also active in B2ten, a program created with the financial support of Canadian business leaders. Over the past 5 years, B2ten has developed, implemented and continually refined a training model for amateur athletes providing them with a comprehensive approach to maximize their potential at the highest level of competition.
